“Humans are not identical. How could you teach yoga in group? I have always said that each individual should do yoga in place of physical exercise in the morning but it should be learnt under a right trainer”, said Singh explaining his remark. Singh expressing his concern over discontinuing of India’s one of the oldest hockey tournaments Obaidullah Khan Gold Cup hockey said, “This is unfortunate for the bhopal, which was known as hockey nursery. But, instead of promoting the national game, a prestigious tournament was discontinued.” Singh assured the hockey players to work for reviving the glory of Bhopal hockey again.
During interaction with Singh, the hockey association members raised their issues. A former international hockey player Rashid Chand said, “ The government stopped providing jobs to the players. Those which are available are only for Vikram awardees but not for others. Why the only Vikram awardees are selected for the jobs?” What about the other international players who have made the country proud. Why shouldn’t be they areconsidered for jobs according to their achievements,” askedthe Chand. Singh replied, “I will sit with people to address the issue.”
The players demanded for promotion of adventure sports and told about need of an adventure sports policy in the state. “Despite having lot of opportunities these games weren’t given due importance,” said Avdhi Patni, an adventure games promoter. Singh replied, “You have given a good suggestion. Work will be done.”
Director sports promoter patron Aruneshwar Singhdeo said, “There is no dearth of talent they only need support.” Singh assured to work for every sportsperson of the state and said, “I was a sportsperson during my school and college life. I will work for every sportsperson.”
It was alleged that several school grounds have been destroyed. “During my reign Tatya Tope Stadium was developed. However, in past 15 years several things have been changed. I will ensure that sports should not suffer,” said Singh.
‘There is nothing smart in smart city’
A state government employee alleged that due to smart city development work grounds were destroyed. On this Digvijay Singh said, “There is nothing smart in the smart city. I have always raised this point.”
